Gone Fishing

What a beautiful day it was here in west Texas. I took the day off from cutting and grinding Fire Agate and went fishing with my good friend Frances King and my wife Suzanne. Didn’t catch anything, and the boat broke down, but all in all it was a wonderful day. Tomorrow I shall get back to work on my Deer Creek Fire Agate Rough for Cabbing and Jewelry making. Hope you all will stop in and see some of my handiwork at www.deercreekgems.com and http://stores.ebay.com/HughesGemsAndMinerals. We make afordable gifts for your dear ones. Stop on by!

Prospecting for and How To Finish Fire Agate Gems Book

This book has a lot of Information on Fire Agate and is free to you on line, just ask for it.
I hope that some of the Information will help and if you do not find that perfect Gem you might just find Peace of mind looking.

Gem & Mineral clubs for good advice,

I have found that not all good rock hunting areas are not in any books, so it is so important to find a club near to you and join if you want to find rock hound friends and get inside info on good gem and mineral trails. you can find lots of good rock and gem locations in the books so I buy every one I can find that covers the areas that I might be going to for any reason and then find time to hunt while I am there. Be sure that you never climb a fence with out permission, also the laws in every state are different so it is best to read up on it for your destination .
The big Walnut trees down the river at the end of the road going down stream are the biggest wall nut trees I have ever seen, it is well worth your time to go look and take some fantastic pictures of every thing around you, there are lots of rattle snakes in the area so be aware, they are under every thing, I have killed a black one that got into the mine at Deer Creek.
Prospecting for Fire Agate is not hard and with some instructions you can easely tell if it is or not, in the sence of the word.I tryed to explain in my free book how to so that you might have at least a clue. If any of you have any good advice on this , Please give it to us.

Rock Hounders Delight,good maps

It is so important to have good maps as well as good advice about prospecting, in our free book on prospecting for Fire Agate, we inserted some good maps that will put you into one of the most beautiful places on earth, when you get down into Aravaipa canyon the road goes to Clondike AZ. as well as to the place where the river goes threw the solid rock face, you will truly be pleased at the beauty. the big bonus is the rock hunting all down the Aravaipa River, also the hills to your left are the homes of many kinds of Agate that came from the Mountains, it is best to ask the local ranchers before you go threw a fenced area most of this land is BLM or state lands. Cub scouts and boy scouts are looking for places to rock hunt so this one would truly be a Gem of a field trip for them, Boy scout masters would be pleased to take the boys to this beautiful area, the Indians lived all in this area and I have found several on private lands here.
There are lots of deer as well as beautiful birds and so much wild life down in the canyon.
you can print out these free maps before you go and tie them in with your Arizona road map.
It would be advisable to take along a good compuss as it helps to know which road to turn down.
